Taken advice - phoned CCCS - selling house?

Hi,

Posted last week (recap £50000 debt/little income) and the overwhelming response was get help from CCCS. Phoned them Friday and they seemed to wonder why I'd called - maybe they were putting up their Christmas decorations. I had already completed there debt plan/got remedy so maybe it was me. Basically the recommendations were token payments/sell house. I am going to do the latter but just wondered what others opinions were? Are they more likely to freeze interest if I offer to pay off in full this way? Thanks.

Erm not sure. I would guess that maybe they would freeze interest if you could show you were selling the house. You would have to check with them what their procedure would be. Sorry but I don't remember your post. Did you do a statement of affairs to see if we could help you cut your expenses down?
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Hi I did read your previous post but didn't respond. You could try phoning and trying to speak to a different person - I have had very positive conversations with the CCCS.

If you don't want to do that, what about the CAB? A member of my family received remarkable support from them a while back.

Realistically - if your house is larger than you require, perhaps you may want to consider selling. Of course, if you are unable to work through your state of mind as previously mentioned, you may wish to consult your GP. I don't know all the ins and outs, but if you can prove medically that you are out of work due to a medical condition you may be able to receive an extra income to support you.

You haven't mentioned family, do you have any family who would be able to help out in the short term?

Alternatively, do you have a skill from which you can make an income? Along the same lines - ebay is a good start for making some quick cash. Not really a long term solution (unless you're one of the lucky ones!) but it's a step in the right direction.

Keep us updated and good luck.

    Hi K,

    Well done for phoning CCCS.

Are they sending you out a pack? or have you already got one? If not ring them back and ask for one to be sent out.

Have you got equity in your house? Have you still got a mortgage outstanding? Would you need a mortgage to purchase a new property?

Don't tell any of your creditors that you are selling you house - it's none of their business. Instead wait for the CCCS pack to come out and do the letter templates that I mentioned in the other post for all your creditors. This should stop the interest and allow you to pay 1 pound a month to each creditor.

Maybe selling your house and starting a fresh would be the right thing to do - then you can start a new chapter in your life. However if you don't feel comfortable with doing this (there's a board in this chatroom that can answer any questions) then wait until you do. Personally, I would wait until you've sorted out the minimum pound payment to your creditors before investigating the house selling thing as you will at least then have the peace of mind of knowing everythings under control.

Post again soon and let us know how you are getting on.

Hope you have a good day.

    Luv Jxx
