Hello everyone . Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.

    Evening budgeteers

I was green for last week and have had a lovely weekend in the sunshine. Unfortunately I am working tomorrow (I volunteered as wanted the extra holiday:D)

I have £39 in my purse at the moment and this is going to be my pledge for the week to include anything that isn't groceries. Hopefully grocery spends should be minimal as I am trying to empty the freezer so I can defrost it.

I hope the weather has been sunny where you are.

I have updated results and pledges from the last thread but let me know if I have missed anything. If you are new, come and join us, let me know your pledge and I will add you to the list.

    Enjoy your week everyone.

Was just visiting two sets of family, did lots of lovely stuff like went to the beach, a concert and day out at a Farm place for my little one. Trying to save for house deposit so it was instead of a holiday abroad.

Problem is that my Son really wants to visit Disneyland Paris again so we may end up going away Oct half-term but it will only be for a few days:eek:

Hi everyone, I'm going for £15 this week please. I've already spent just over £5 today, so it might be hard to stay within that amount.
The weather's been lovely and sunny here, but so windy that it feels quite cold at times!!

    Hi all

I'm going to go for £40 this week. We're going to a fair tomorrow but hopefully it will just be the entrance fee to worry about.

    Hi,
I will try not to go over £20 this week and will not buy ANY groceries as I've got 2 freezers full of food. I think it's manageable....

Last week was purple In fact we did even better than this (but not yellow) as we went swimming using our Schwim bottle caps:money: and normally that is something that comes out of a separate budget, we have enough caps to keep us in schwims for a few more weeks :j

    This week I pledge £10

79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
