Tax Return

Hi All

My husband and I both went bankrupt last september and so far all is going ok for us. We both have an IPA and had Nil Tax Code from January to April (mine has not changed back though when it should have done) however my husband has received a tax return form to fill in from HMRC. He telehoned to enquire as to why he has it as he isn't self employed and never has been. They told him that his OR has requested it and to contact him. We have tried but cannot get hold of him at the moment. Does anyone know why he may have received this?

Thanks
Cissie

    Hi,

I have heard this a few times.

Wait till you can speek to OR.

Most likely so they can see if they can clarify what you are paying on IPAs for tax reasons.

I would not worry about it:)

Thanks Sizzler, Very much appreciate your response. I have been wondering about it and my husband has been worrying. He does tend to worry about everything anyway!
We had had letters a while back saying that both our 'files' had been passed over to the RTLU so wasn't sure if it was something to do with that.

If anyone else has had any experience of this would be great to hear from you.

Don't forget there's been a lot of Bank Holidays this last couple of weeks. Your OR may either be snowed under or on holiday!

These tax returns seem to be a normal thing now once nil tax code ends, a lot of members have reported receiving one. I'd just fill it in and send it off, you've nothing to hide.

I think it unlikely that the OR has requested it, i think the person at HMRC is getting mixed up, but it is nothing to worry about, he just needs to put any earned income down and send it back
