can i sue for slander of my business??

This would actually be slander, not libel. Libel is written word and slander spoken HOWEVER, internet forums are considered slander due to their transient nature. Also due to the amount of attention paid by the readers, due to the dipping in & out of conversations. Forums are treated more like a chat in a bar than a published article.
Slander is a lot harder to prove, you would have to prove how much money you lost as a direct result of her comments.(and also prove it is her saying it). you can ask the website to remove the comments as they are defamatory, the website may comply as many worry about lawsuits themselves.
the onus is on her to prove that what she is saying is in fact true, one of the few situations where "innocent until proven guilty" is not the case.
Slander/libel is very expensive, and only really worth it if you've got a lot of money to waste.
She sounds like a very silly person, you have offered an apology and money back, what more can she want? learn from it, and on your order form have a section for colour of sponge (natural) (colour option) and colour of icing. Good luck.0 -
ps,
I have been in this situation, I posted a review about a company who really did provide a poor service. every single one of my posts were removed as defamatory as the business owner requested. I even posted a picture of the faulty product with no words (not even the company name!) and that got removed as being defamatory! websites are scared S***less of defamation and will remove anything.0 -
This is a case from May 2011: we never did hear any more about it.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Pointing upwards or drooping to one side? Perhaps facing downwards? Or even half of it facing up and then half flopping down?0 -
As long as it's got a good dollop of buttercream dripping off one end of it, I'm happy either way.0

Simply you search google for your own company nameI'm intrigued at how OP found the reviews. Where would one leave reviews about a cake? lol :eek:Seriously bad idea. One thing I look out for when researching companies is obviously faked reviews. Far better to ask customers if they liked your service to please post a review on.... so all reviews are genuine and clearly not from the same person.
I dont think there is anything wrong here when this happened, some people can be proper stubborn and vindictiveI do feel there may be more to this matter than has been divulged so far.
If I ordered a cake and I wasn't happy with it, I don't know why I would have refused an R&R that was offered (It kept a load of Tesco customers quiet whilst they offered this for mis-pricing)
Even if I didn't want a replacement, I would have taken a refund (and perhaps just asked for the replacement to have the pleasure of throwing that in the bin too )
At worst I may have given a review/feedback on the site I bought the product through, but wouldn't have trawled the internet posting on every site I could find that the retailer happened to be using.
Does anyone else think that the actions of this customer appear to be not consistent with the issue as described? Would anyone else spend so much time moaning & complaining if, e.g. they ordered a chocolate sponge cake but received a plain sponge cake by mistake???
Also it is illegal to write fake reviews for your own company0
