Spots Spots Spots !

Hey Everyone :)

Just reminiscing about acne filled days ! , I was just wondering what people did to get rid of theirs ? Did everyone have them or ? and what worked for them ?

I still get the occasional one mind but glad I am out of that stage where your face is constantly outbreaking grrrr ! Was awful , its so sould destroying !

But I remember trying everything, TCP,Benzol, Clearasil, Nutrogena, Oxy, Dove , All different things,Even resorted to Garlic Cloves once lol !

Whats everyones weird and wonderful remedys for that darn spot :)

I'm reliving those wonderful days again at the grand old age of 32 :( I had a bad breakout back in November and nothing is shifting them. I went to the docs a couple of months ago and all I got was a prescription for Oxy....I only just managed to resist going back to the surgery to lob it at his head :D

Making a face mask with aspirin and honey is meant to be great for bad skin - I've read a ton of rave reviews but it didn't clear mine up unfortunately.

I've heard that zinc is proving to be extremely good for acne, I imagine it would need to be a considerably higher dose than the RDA though.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

I still get hormonal breakouts but there is a train of thought that acne in particular areas of the face correlates to other parts of the body. Facial mapping suggests that spots on the nose indicate problems in one area of the body and the chin others etc.

Below are some links identifying the areas and also some ideas about solutions. Oxy might work but if the problem isn't solved then the acne won't go away.

I don't know a huge amount about face mapping but is seems pretty logical. Does it tally with your patterns of breakouts?

In response to the OP, I now use salysilic (sp?) acid but back in the day I slathered on tea tree oil, dug at them with sterilised needles, put loads of face masks on and was forever steaming my face.

I just posted the below on another spot thread, nothing worked in my teens and I had mine before everyone else:( I used to wear a LOT of make up and things didnt improve until I went on the pill as a young adult but even then I didnt have clear skin.
I would recommend Freederm gel, use it twice a day until the spots have gone and then once every couple of days as a preventative, it contains a product that treats the infection not just dries it out, I had spots from being a teenager until I started using this in my mid 30s:eek:now I have constantly clear skin and can see my skin going down hill if I miss more than a few days, its a strange product some love it and some say it has no effect but its worth a try as your using spot control products anyway start with a small tube which costs about £5 from Boots etc, I wouldn't bother with the other products in the range just go straight for the gel:)

You really need to find the cause of the spots, spots around the jawline and chin area are usually hormonal so might be worth looking at this especially if you take the pill, in my experience my own spots get considerably worse when I eat too much sugar or if I use a facial product with too much mineral oil in it, interestingly both of these give me a different type of spot, however I can be really clean living and still get them if I don't use my freederm - hth, good luck:)
Thank you for this site Martin

Best thing that worked on my terribly greasy and acne-prone skin was Liz Earle Cleanse and POlish. It's a bit pricey but lovely cleanser and once my spots had cleared up I went back to cheaper cleanser and apart from hormonal break-outs I've never suffered since.

None of the chemically stuff I bought or doc prescriptions ever did any good for me.

    Best of luck.

Thanks for those links - they all say it's hormonal, which is what I thought. I'll make another doctors appointment and hopefully get to see someone with a bit more common sense!
