in Cutting tax
My tax affairs are really quite simply. I have a pension on which I pay PAYE. I work in central Africa delivering a development aid project for the Belgian government for which I am paid from Brussels.
For a number of valid reasons I am domiciled in the UK and therefore pay UK tax.
My wife is with me but my adult children still live in our house in the UK so there is no other income to consider.
Obviously I rent a house in Africa for which I get an allowance that covers about 80% of the cost. Is the amount I pay in rent and for utilities on my house in Africa tax deductable?

Apart from posts on here by Cook County, I have never heard of "Detached Duty Relief".
On the other hand I do know, in Civil Service terms, what Detached Duty means.
The OP in this thread seems to have a job in Central Africa and there is no way that he or she is on detached duty.
In the thread that John_Pierpont linked to the OP appears to have worked in the UK and then been sent abroad. That is a very different thing and may be Detached Duty.0
