I would definitely recommend that your son does the letter writing/phoning etc.

Potential employers will be more impressed that he has the confidence to do this than the parent asking on behalf of the (potentially reluctant) child (who the parent thinks should be working but the child thinks otherwise).

can relate to your post OP, DS is 12 and desperate for a job! just for extra for things like doing up his bike etc! It is so difficult as they are still young but you dont want to discourage them - DS went and got a paper round when he was 11 much to my disgust as he too is not a morning person, i ended up doing it or taking him in the car, needless to say he no longer has it. Does he have a paricular hobby? could he go round Bootsales with his dad and then trade games - some shops buy 2nd hand? DS sold his old games consuls last summer and some of his games.

    have also pm'd you

I do think he will struggle in retail due to the strict lawas on retail governing bodies (am an X Sainsburys manager and rules for 16 year olds were very different)
Another poster mentioned dog walking. I wish there was a local person round here that I could 'book' 2-3 times a week to take our dog for a walk. It would free me up to do something else round the house and my pooch is very friendly
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!
