Forest bark for mulching

Does anyone know where to get bark at a reasonable price. Some of the garden centres are extortionate.

I bought some from Carryduff building supplies last week. It was £44 for 1000 litres which is not bad value until you factor in the delivery charge which was £35. This wasn't a problem as I was also getting gravel and sleepers but it could work out quite expensive by itself.

I bought some more in B & Q yesterday which was 4 for 3 and worked out at £19.44 for 400 Litres.

I contacted a local tree surgeon who was happy to give it away I just paid him for delivery. Had a lorry load.

Not sure where you are but just over the border near Glaslough there is a place that sells it by the digger scoop. Turn up with a trailer etc and he will fill it. Comes in 4 different colours: light brown, dark brown, green and black. Great quality stuff. 45 Euro a scoop. I would guess this would equate to a 1 metre square builder's bag.

try clarke cunningham tree maintenance in belfast.they charge £15 for a cubic metre which would fill an average trailer.give them a phone first before going there as there needs to be someone in the yard.

or spr mcgowan tree services in ballycarry do bark also.not sure of prices though
