I needed a new case after my old (expensive!) one cracked so I bought a cheap one off Amazon cause I only wanted it to protect from scratches. I went with this one:

And it's not the thin sticky silicone, it's actually surprisingly good for 99p. The only bad thing is that on the bottom the small cutout for the connector can get a little sharp if you balance your phone on your fingers there but it's nothing that will cut you. I really wanted a purple one too but it's always out of stock "/
