Is there a website or phone app, where i can find local gigs in my area, simliar to my tastes in music. i.e pop, rock.

I use ents24, it's a website and app.
You can filter results by:
event (theatre, gigs, comedy, days out),
date (up to 3 weeks in advance i think),
and distance from location.
The website allows you to 'track' artists so that when they announce a show near your specified location, you'll get an email. Also, the website has links to ticket vendors when you click a specific show.
It doesn't narrow down types of gig to suit your taste, but it's definitely worth having on your phone.
