Diluting shower gel to use as handwash

Does anyone know what I can use to dilute shower gels to use as handwash please? I have tried water, of course, but the water rises to the top of the dispenser as it is lighter than the gloop.
Today in a charity shop I got a real bargain - a L'Occitane shower gel for £1.99 (usually £13) and cheap though it is I don't want to waste it. Are there any chemists out there who can recommend a suitable dilutant?

Cannot say about diluting your shower gel but myself, I put tesco value shower gel straight in the handwash pump as its rather runny to start with and great value at 10p a bottle. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

I can't understand why that shower-gel can't be diluted with water. Have you given a really good shake to mix it properly? Soap is soap, not matter what the label says, and they're all diluted with varying amounts of water.0

Thanks B&T. I haven't tried this one yet, but others like lavender and Royal Jelly separate when I add water. The resulting goo is really a bit thick for a handwash. I just thought there might be something else which would make it slightly runnier with separating.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I do it when my shower gel is running low, and it's absolutely fine. A bit runnier than you'd expect but it still does the job.0

I'm actually using a recycled foam dispenser (from one of the new foam hair dyes) and I've found it great (although I'm mixing water and shampoo). Once mixed (over a week ago) I've not noticed any separation since and the foam is lovely to wash your hands etc with
Previously I used an old hand wash dispenser but didn't bother diluting the shower gel/shampoo etc:)

You can get special soap dispensers that make the gel into a foam. I saw them in Germany but I bet you could get one here too.0

We do this and use a foaming dispenser. Try boiled water and shake really well - mix in an old drinks bottle or similar as it will distort from the hot water - the heat keeps it sterile and helps it mix better too.0

I'd be wary of mixing with water which can become stale and either smell bad as time goes by or even grow mould if left for too long in warmish conditions such as a bathroom. Have you thought about mixing with a non scented shower gel? I'm sure there are others out there but Simples products tend to have little if any fragrance.0

Thank you for all your suggestions. I will give them a go one by one and let you know. I have a decade's supply of the stuff, I am sure!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
