Experian £2 Credit Report - Missing info?

Last June, I had declared myself bankrupt (only one month to go - hooray!!) and I thought I would obtain a copy of my £2 statutory report so that I can get ready to clean up my credit file in a few weeks time. I have just been looking at a copy of my report, and I have found that there appears to be some missing information on it.

I split from my ex last year and moved into a new flat on my own and then went BR. When I completed the BR, I had 2 unsecured loans from the old address, both via HFC Bank (now Restons Solicitors). One was in a joint name with my ex-partner, and another was in solely my name only. A couple of years ago, we were taken to court and both loans were placed on a charging order.

Just after I went BR, both the loans were appearing on my credit file online on the Credit Expert website. Now, as I have just seen my Experian report, both the the loans seem to have disappeared from the report.....

Through the grapevine, I happen to know that my ex stayed in the house in which we lived with the mortgage. I know that HFC would have chased her for the debts, but I was sure that my name would still be linked to these debts.

Is the information just either missing, or am I just not liable and don't need to write to HFC to clean up my credit file?

Please help.......thanks!

Did you include your old address when you requested the statutory report? If not then it won't show any debts from that address.

You'll need to wait a few months before cleaning up your files, give your creditors chance to update them on their own before you chase them.

    Thanks for the info.......

I did include my old address on the credit report, as it was on my report in June 2010, I don't understand why the HFC info is now missing.

How long also should I wait before I clean my report up?

Make sure you also get your reports from Equifax and CallCredit, maybe HFC have changed who they use in the interim? I really wouldn't worry if it's not there though, just check once a year in case it pops back up with incorrect settled date.

I'd wait 3-4 months, creditors aren't always that quick off the mark in updating the files.

    Hi,

The Experian report (or any other) is only as good as the information creditors provide. It is a GUIDE to who you owe. Some creditors never give information to CRAs some give everything and continually update and some stop bothering after a while.

Also worth contacting the CRA..[not now, but later, when you get your statutory reports].....if there is a possibility of either your current address, or previous address being 'written' differently?

This happened to me......simply because certain ex-creditors [note terminology.....].......had actually recorded my previous address either slightly incorrectly, or simply, back-to-front.
This doesn't faze the Post Office.....however

example...if your address also might contain a 'house name' which need not be used for mail purposes because it has a number too?

If you have any 'old' correspondence, have a look at how they wrote your [old?} address?

Debts that were previously on a report can also 'disappear' for some time if they are being sold on.

i.e. the default/account info for the original creditor is taken off, only to reappear at a later date recorded in the name of the debt collector/debt buyer.

Well last year the HFC (Restons) was appearing on my credit record, so I don't understand why they have gone.......nothing has changed.

Would the fact that the moment that I declared myself BR, the debt would have then been owed solely by my ex and not me any more?
