Hi all..
Im after a bit of advice.. I cant really take the car back to the garage or go to another as ill either get charged or laughed at and there is something i need to ask about my car ..
I have a frontera, 2L. It takes around £70 to fill the tank.. Im only getting around 400 miles out of it.. Is this right. Thing is Ive never had such a big car so I dont know if its normal.. Im used to getting 350 miles for £30 in the Clio !!
Any help would be great.. also if it is right, tips on reducing this would be good too !!

Not a mechanic but a googler:
Frontera consumption in the region of 25-28 mpg

Sounds about right mike - as posted above the frontera is about 28 mpg, however the clio is more likely to be about 45mpg.
anyway, based on your £70 - 7000(pence) / 83.9 (per litre / 4.55 (for galls) =18.33. 400miles/18.33 = 21.82 mpg.
a little bit heavy, but depends how hard you put your foot down - do like to get to 60 quickly, or build up your speed. No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Perhaps you could consider having an LPG conversion - costs vary from £500 - over £1000, but LPG is half the price of petrol so you would soon get your money back.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I have thought about doing this, but then I remember when diesel was much cheaper than unleaded. How long before LPG is at the same price.

And check the standard stuff - tyre pressure makes a difference to mpg. Try driving at 50 instead of 70, you'll be amazed the diff it makes! TTFN Debs0

I agree, but I don't think that even this government would risk the backlash of raising the duty in one fell swoop.
Diesel would have been the best option, but as Mike already has the car then LPG is one possible solution.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

The car is quite old really and I dont do that many miles.. I guess it wouldnt be that cost effective.
Still.. At least I get clubcard points !0 -

If you don't do that many miles, Mike it's probably not worth bothering with. No car is at its most economic on short runs - my wife's car (318i) gives around 26 mpg, but when I take it up the motorway it's nearer 40 mpg.
And, of course there's the clbcard points - I really notice the difference since my car was repo'd - last week my statement arrived and I was 20 points short of getting any vouchers. :mad:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser.
