YES Loans

Okay so I have been a bit thick :doh:and appraoched Yes loans who I thought were a loan company. I now discover they are NOT a loan company but a broker company. They tried to take a fee of £69.50 from my account but sadly for them my big bills came out today and until I transfer money over it's a bit empty.
Panicked when I read all the stuff about them - cut my debit card in half and reported it damaged. New debit card on the way with different number.
Yes loans paperwork will be sent back (when it arrives) with a stiff letter about the lies I was told on the phone (have been assured they have found me a loan when it seems obvious they have not). Their office sounded frantic - lots of shouting (aggressive sounding) going on.
Me - have looked up the local credit union instead - worked out I can save a good £50 per month with them and wait a few months for what I was going to buy.
Yes loans advertising is very deceptive though.

Even that isn't always enough to stop these companies routing around in your bank account with their sticky fingers. Your old card number will still be linked to your account.
Are you sure you'll be issued with a new card number? I would have expected the number to remain the same if the card was simply damaged.0 -
You authorised that payment before you reported your card damaged.
Keep a good eye on your account, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this money go as soon as there is sufficient funds available.
It maybe an idea to ask the bank if there have been any unsuccessful attempts to withdraw funds. If there are, I am quite sure they will continue the attempts until one goes through.0
