Renting a house with a partner who is bankrupt

Hi There. I was wondering if someone could help me. My partner and i are hoping to rent a house in the next few weeks, but he became bankrupt last year.
I have a full time job and he has just become self employed as a cleaner, but i would be happy to just pay the rent on the house with my salary. Is this possible for just myself to be credit checked when applying for a tenancy and inform them my partner is there? He has no bank account at present but he has applied for a cashminder card with the co-op bank just incase they need evidence of a bank. I don't want to lie and say its just me living there and then him move in! I think this covers my question for now!
Many thanks in advance
Paul

I think it would be fine for you to rent in your name only and just inform the letting agent your partner will be living with you, as long as you could prove you can afford the place entirely on your own without his contribution. Otherwise they would probably want a joint tenancy agreement and then you need to find an agent who is happy to rent to a BR, you'd probably need a guarantee or 6 months rent up front if that were to be the case.

The only concern with the first option is that he would have no rights to remain in the property if anything were to happen to you, as his name would not be on the tenancy agreement.
When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN :D
