Nil Tax Code not changed

Probably not the correct forum I apologise but not sure where to put it.
My Nil Taxcode should have changed from the 1st April I received notification of this but my employer did not action it. I rang up the Tax office but couldnt understand what the chap was saying were my options. I basicaly wanted to pay the tax back straight away but this appears is not an option? He said there were 2 options and basically said they will reissue my tax code again and assess my tax at the end of the tax year? (when presumably I'll owe them what has gone into my salary this year?) Does that sound right? If so I just dont know what to do with the money for now, I dont have a savings account just a co-op account.

At this early stage they should be able to reassess your tax code for the rest of the year to include the amount so far unpaid. Basically to average out 12 months tax due over the remaining 11 months. Then they would need to reassess again at the end of the year to check you have not over or under paid your tax. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

It depends on what HMRC do - I assume they are sending a tax coding notificaiton to your employer to action? If they send it on a week 1/month 1 basis then I suspect there would still be an underpayment of tax at the end of the tax year.
If they send it without the week/month 1 marker then the tax not paid in April will be collected in May and it should all then be ok.0
