Firstly, I'm sure if I'm posting in the correct thread here as i'm a first timer, so sorry if so.
My story is a long one, but I won't bore you all with it, but briefly, my husband has left me with £22,000 worth of debt (in short, he was in debt but hid it from me, lost his job but pretended to go to work each and stole cash off my credit cards which he paid into my bank account to pretend it was his wages). I am now struggling to pay off on my own since we separated (we have now been separated a year) so a couple of weeks ago, I completed the 'budget' form with CCCS and have signed up to a DMP which means I should be debt free in 8 years (not sure whether that should be a
or a:eek: or a
)
I have signed my forms and sent all the stuff through and yesterday have written to all my creditors with their standard letter explaining the situation and that CCCS will be in touch with an offer.
When each payment becomes due over the next month or so until my plan is set up, should I just make token payments instead of the usual amounts?
Also, not sure whether barclays have frozen my account already because my tax credits went in this morning but they are not showing as cleared funds, which they usually do - any ideas? (I have set up a new account for everything to be paid into in the future, but it wasn't done in time for this payment)
Anyways, I am proud of myself for taking this first step and am now able to sleep a little at nights x

yes I have...my wages and all other benefits are being paid in to it from now on, but todays tax credits could not be changed0 -
Do the bank know you are in a DMP, as they may well off-set the tax credits against your debt if they know - nick them basically - which is usually legal?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
