New life insurance policy after discharge

Hi All, I got my auto-discharge about a month ago now. During my BR I let a life insurance policy lapse (it was quite expensive anyway) but now I am thinking I had better sort out a new policy for the wife and I. I am just wondering about any claim the OR may have on a payout from a new policy that was started after my discharge. I know that for exisiting policies at the time of BR it is necessary to pay £50 to have the beneficial interest re-assigned to you, but is this still the same for a brand new policy? Thanks as always.
