Are you serious? It was basically a glitch that this deal was still working a couple of days ago as this is a promotion from last year, and people posted all yesterday afternoon about how it had stopped working as of yesterday. The wasted time was on you, not HMV.

Totally agree! This is not HMV's fault and this was a glitch which some people managed to take advantage of - As with all grabbits you have to be quick!

I had a voucher code for 5 tracks from yesterday.
The above comments suggest it won't work
I have just tried it and it worked

My voucher worked fine too thanks op, think the above posters meant that they were unable to access the page to get the free codes

Yes Im bloody serious! How was I supposed to know it was a glitch from last year? I received an email saying I had the free tracks and they gave me a voucher!! Im not a hardcore 'glitch spotter' which clearly you are, I dont spend my days looking back at old glitchs and assessing whether that means Im going to get this one! I just go off what Im told and I was told I had access to free tracks.

Lol, I didn't look back at old glitches from last year, either. In the very first post in this thread, where you presumably got the info about this deal, it states that this was an old offer that was discovered to still be working. Later in this same thread, long before your rant, many people had already reported the codes had stopped working. No hunting up old glitches required, just a little attention to detail. My experience as a "glitch spotter" hasn't taught me to hunt up old posts, it's taught me to always read the first AND last posts in a thread before spending time or trouble on a glitch.

    From the first post:
"Last year HMV offered a promotion of 5 free tracks from their MP3 digital site - The first 8,000 people to sgn up got sent a code allowing 5 free tracks to be downloaded - It has been discovered that this is still working"

I only the read the first post as i didnt have time to read the rest. I interpreted it as 'the promotion is still working'. Whether this was because the 8,000 hadnt been claimed or whether this was because they had started it again. I'll hold my hands up and admit I clearly misunderstood the situation. I guess I'll have to start reading further on in these posts!
I am still rather peeved that i wasted time choosing songs but after looking back i guess i have to admit it was potentially my fault for not understanding the situation.
Thanks for pointing it out cos i was really annoyed at the time!! haha
