Claim Free School Meals if non resident parent on benefits

Hi All

I have just found out that you can claim free school meals for you kids even if, as the resident parent, you do not fit the eligibilty but a non resident parent DOES fit the criteria!!!!

Me and my husband would never be eligible because of our income, but my childrens father DOES fit the criteria and the Department of Education have confirmed that my children ARE eligible for free school meals!!!

Please look into this if you are a parent with care and the non resident parent is not working or on a low income!!! this is a FANTASTIC way to "top up" the £5 a week (or less) maintenance the government deems acceptable! For us it could mean a potential "saving/income" of over £20 a week for my 2 kids!!!!!

and...having free school meals (whether your child actually eats them or not) allows you to get grants and allowances which other students can't get. Such as discounts on new laptops, broadband connections, cash grants, discounted university tuition fees, free travel between home and school...etc...
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Spamming the boards with rubbish OP.
Free school meals are worked out on where the child mainly resides.
