Grr @ Ocean Finance advert!

Has anyone else seen this on TV? The one like a cartoon where the guy proposes at Bargain Weddings R Us or something and then she drags him to an expensive castle and he starts sweating, but BANG! they get a loan from Ocean Finance and have a huge wedding.
I have two problems with this:
1. It's enforcing the stereotype that women have to have a bells and whistles wedding, and I absolutely do not agree with that.
2., and this is the big one, it's encouraging people to get in debt for their wedding! I remember reading a thread on here where someone protested that getting a loan doesn't mean bad debt and it can be paid off in time but from what I remember (correct me if I'm wrong), Ocean Finance isn't exactly for people with prime credit ratings, and also I think symbolically the idea of getting into debt before starting married life together is bad luck.
What do we all think?

I agree totally i hate any advert that takes advantage of people in difficulties like that.0

I haven't seen the advert, but totally agree! Glorifying loans for anything shouldn't be allowed! I'm not saying that they're totally wrong all of the time - obviously there will be times when getting one would even be recommended by Martin Lewis! But I hate this & wonga.com!Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93
Crazy Clothes Challenge # 103 - £84/£200 £30 Coat/£12 shirt/£23 jeans/£6 t-shirt/£13 2 x tops
Shoes £79/£100: Cowboy boots, canvas pumps, re-heal boots/ £25 safari shoes0 -
But those are the exact people they are aiming their business at, people who want the all singing all dancing wedding but cannot afford to pay for it.0

I haven't seen the advert but I agree.
For me, getting married is all about the marriage rather than the wedding so we're getting wed on a budget and I don't see anything wrong with that.
However, each to their own ;-):heart2: Friday 10 June - Getting married! :heart2:0 -
i want an all singing, all dancing wedding but had no idea how I was going to pay for it.... and looked into taking out a loan - at a whopping rate decided against it, mainly because I just had 2 very long years paying off debt and didn't want to ever do that again!
We are now having an all singing all dancing wedding on our small budget of £4000 -why? Because we've bargained with suppliers, we've done alot of things by ourselves and we are saving every penny we have! I have everything I've ever dreamed of for my wedding - and I am not in debt!0 -

We refuse to get into debt for our wedding too, we already have 3 children between us and they are expensive enough without getting a loan for the wedding lol
But we are sort of challenging ourselves to do it as all singing all dancing as we can but within a resonable budget.
OH is going to be making the cake and I will be decorating it, wel he wants to help decorate too! and we are going to have a bash at doing our own invites too, plus shooping around for the clothes, venues, flowers et.
I'm really excited about the whole planning process!
