Well, so far so good.
I've got all this weeks food up until Friday. Bad news is we've got friends coming round on Saturday (2 adults, 4 children) which will cost more, and the dad is pretty much guaranteed to polish off nearly all my alcohol
Cheers,
Brassic
I`d leave out a bottle of wine of two and hide the rest upstairs if thats the case
We used to have a friend who was a demon for the drink when he visited and it used to cost us a fortune. when we started to only leave a couple of bottles in the cabinet for the meal and a drink afterwards it was much more manageable.

He was looking under a crusher door at work, another guy lifted the door (using something not himself as they about 1 ton) and my OH thought he would just put his hand under a part as could see a bit of rubbish there and the door slipped and fell onto his fingers.
He was VERY VERY lucky not to have them chopped off, got away with just broken, very lucky lad.

Yes i can recommend the pannys, i would be lost without mine, i did try making bread without one and found it too messy, time consuming and very hard on my poor old wrists lol
Far easier to shove all the ingredients in and set the timer overnight and wake up to the smell of fresh breadSome peeps don`t get on with the paddle that sits in the bottom of the pan as it sometimes gets stuck in the bottom of the loaf but it doesn`t bother me.
I`ve had a couple of different breadmakers over the years and can`t fault the panny. I tend to use it for loaves, dough for breadcakes, pizza dough, cinnamon and fruit breads for toast and also sundried tomato & parmesan bread which we love toasted.
It takes 14oz flour for a medium loaf which is the size that we bake the most and i buy mostly Asd@ strong white bread flour so not a bad saving at all considering the price of shop bought bread these days
No preservatives in hm either so much better for you. My bm is on the timer atm and when the alarm goes off in the morning the smell of freshly baked bread helps me prise my back off the mattress

Thanks so much for the post re BM. I've been swithering over getting a decent one for ages. There is only OH and me so I wondered if it would be worthwhile. I hate shop-bought bread though! I did have a cheap BM I got out of Lid£ but the bread came out like a brick! I freecycled it in the end.Morning everyone - a NSD yesterday but I'm not sure about today, need to double check menu plan for the rest of the week, probably need some more veg, spuds etc.
Dinner tonight is :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/quickspicedchickenth_92025
I'ts from Economy Gastronomy that was on the TV a long time ago, I was sorting through some Recipes that I'd printed out and not got around to doing and thought I'd give this one a try - I'd printed it off in August 2009 so better late than never.:o
I've got the Chicken marinading in the Fridge at the moment, smells delicious.;)
Have a good day everyone.:D
That sounds absolutely delish - thanks for posting the recipe link. Can I come to yours for dinner?;)
I've just done a big batch of chilli, it's in the SC. Will have some for tea and freeze the rest.

morning all, today was suppose to be a nsd however my mil's freezer defrosted (not on purpose) so she's gave me some food, mainly readymeal type things like breaded chicken and fish, and pizza and some egg fried rice but also some chicken breasts and i already had some out for tea so i think i'll grab some mushrooms and make a nice creamy pie sauce with the creme fraiche in the freezer then freeze it for pir fillings or with riceDEC GC £463.67/£450

Morning all.
Time to declare for May, £502.79. Just over but I am happy with that.
I am going to aim for £480 in June. I am going to to become vegetarian. I will still have to cook meat for the rest of the family but my meat bill should decrease.
I need to sort my meal plans out this evening for June. It will take a bit more thought to accommodate my change in diet.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

Thanks Pixie, I've added the malt loaf recipe to the index and thanks also for the reminder re black-saturn's evening meal planner thread  I've added a link to that thread too (listed under Useful OS threads)... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hello everyone! Well I am declaring for May as I start June tomorrow.
A total of £338.05 for May. Annual total now at £1836.67. Aiming for £330 in June please!
Thank you to everyone who runs this thread!
I am over budget but not by much, and still on target for the annual. I have just had 3 NSD in a row. I have been rummaging in the back of cupboards and the bottom of the freezer to get to today. Now I need to meal plan for the next week, starting with checking the offers that are on!
Good luck to everyone still working on May!:T
Gentle thoughts and positive vibes extended to Hippeechiq and Spigs. x0
