Comet Returns

Hi all

I bought a surround sound unit from Comet yesterday. I'm having real problems setting it up. Its supposed to have a special mic which will automatically set it up for me but no matter where I put the mic it doesn't recognise it.

I've called up Comet who says I have to take the unit back to store and they will test it. They might have to send it away. If its faulty they will refund/exchange but I'm fed up with it now and just want a refund.

Any ideas? Can they do this? I bought it from a store rather than off the website so I am not covered under distance selling regulations.

    What is Comet’s returns policy?
    Answer
    A full refund or an exchange of equal value if preferred, is guaranteed for customers returning unopened products within 28 days of purchase or delivery. Under distance selling legislation, any opened products purchased via our web site or telephone are also subject to a 7-day exchange or refund.

    Faulty products within the Manufacturer's guarantee period will be repaired for free by a Comet approved engineer.

    If you are returning a faulty portable product, you should return it to your nearest Comet store, which will arrange for the product to be inspected. If the product is faulty, the store will explain the various options available to you.

    If you wish to return a large item, you should contact Comet customer services for help and advice.

    Can you put it all back in the box so it looks as though it hasn't been opened or show that it's faulty when you take it back?
