HFO Services, Who are they? Advice needed.

I have been sent a letter today from HFO services saying its a reminder to the £3936.83p i owe Welcome.

I can remember having some kind of welcome account years ago and thought it was about £400 but also thought i had paid this off. The amount they say is no where near the amount they say.

Also the letter states my account will under go a pre-litigation review next week.

This hfo service is ringing my works getting me into trouble there by them keep ringing them and also pestering me at home all the time and my parents.

What should i do as i dont owe they amount they state and they so much are getting me into trouble at home and work with there calls at all hours.

If you search this site you will soon get a flavour of who HFO are..

They appear to have launched a campaign against you. I'm afraid the usual advice to 'ignore them' is not going to work here and you will have to start a mini-campaign against them.

For starters, send the prove-it letter. I'd boost up the final paragraph a bit to read
We await your written confirmation that this matter is now closed. Otherwise we will have no option but to make a complaint to Trading Standards and will inform the OFT, CSA and FOS of your actions

The OFT can withdraw their licence. The Credit Services Association is their 'professional body. The Financial Ombudsman can award compensation and functions as an independent adjudicator. If they don't back off you will have quite a bit of letter writing and form filling to do.

See what they come back with. If it is your old account, then if it is over six years since you last acknowledged it by payment or in writing, then there's a letter to state that it's statute barred and they must cease collection activity.

You might also need the telephone harassment letter if that nonsense continues too.

But for now start with the prove-it
