Doing Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred but in excruciating pain

I started doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred about 2 weeks ago and I really enjoy doing it but I have had so much pain in my legs (around my knees, shins and ankles) afterwards that I cannot do most of the exercises for several days. I last did the jumping jacks about 5 days ago and my legs are still in so much pain I could hardly move this morning. I don't know what I am doing wrong? Surely it is meant to get better each day not more painful. It's really getting me down as I was very set and focused on losing weight but I am finding I cannot do this. And how do I ease this pain, every movement of my legs from the knees down today has been agony. Should I be taking something to reduce swelling and if so what. I am going to take a hot bath but I really want to be able to do this, not have to wait a week between each go's :(.

An exercise plan is not a 'one sits fits all', everyone has different tolerance levels. If you have swollen joints as a result you really should be seeing your GP before doing any further exercise.
    Gone ... or have I?

I second dmg24 - if your workout has caused that much inflammation you need to get it checked by a Doc - I've had knee problems and you really need to look after them!

You may also need to find/do a 'low impact' alternative/version after you've been given the OK from your Dr

I've found that any kind of extra activity will help with the physical aspect of weight control (FWIW all I can still do is walking and add yoga for strength, flexibility and breathing and it works)

You should definitely see the doc. I have slight knee problems so always have to be careful when exercising. When I do a workout video that involves an exercise that strains the knees I just do a more limited version of it or just jog on the spot.

It could be that you are just not fit enough yet for this particular workout. I was looking at a fitness computer game my cousin bought. It was labelled as being suitable for beginners, but the first workout was half an hour of pretty high intensity aerobics and deep lunges etc. I would be worried if someone who was very overweight or hadn't exercised in a long time had tried it.

I agree, check with your doctor. If he thinks you are okay then try to go to a few classes/have a PT session to learn proper technique as it may well be the reason you are in so much pain. Many people squat, for example, leaning forward too much so that the knees come further forward than the ankles, this causes strain, can cause pain and can even cause an actual injury. Similarly some people do jacks just landing on their toes and/or not bending their knees enough as they land..
