remortgage to buy another house

hi we are thinking of remortgaging our house to gain some captial to buy another house to live. then we were thinking of renting the one that is remortgaged out to pay the remortgage .do we pay tax on the whole rent or just the interest. we have no mortgage left on the house we wish to remortgage thanks
