One way to have improved the booking process is instead of automatically debiting the cards somepoint in May is to send an email saying "congratulations you have been successful and have provisionally secured these tickets: *List of tickets*, you have until the 31st May to confirm that you wish to purchase these tickets before they go back into the ballot"

With the option of looking at what tickets you have got, keeping the ones you want and dumping the ones you don't want. After the 31st May the unpurchased tickets to over-subscribed events get re-drawn etc.

Like others, I agree with most of the comments. For me the issue as well is not been given time to save for the tickets. We were invited to apply in April for ticket applications to close in 6 weeks and then the money may be taken in May.

Why could it not work like this. Tell us the prices at the end of December and how the ballot system works. Then open for applications in April, close in May tell us in June which tickets we've been successful in buying then give us 2 weeks to log back in and make the payment.

Its a rich mans game at the end of the day. They wanted us to get behind London 2012 and now we have its- apply for events that nobody will want to see. I only applied for the tickets i could afford. Seems like ive got more chance of winning the euromillions then seeing the mens 100m final!

Yes, they've managed to turn what should have been a joyous and happy occasion into one full of resentment and many very unhappy people. Two things. First, why could they not let people know if they've been successful and how many tickets and how much before taking the money, so that people can ensure they have enough money in the bank instead of just taking the money? Second, why do you have to wait until next June before you can return the tickets. Doesn't the Distnace Selling Act apply?

Look on the bright side it wont be so soon before we can host another. First things first, the logo is absolutely dreadful,... then after all this with our semi-stable Government its not guaranteed that the tube etc. will be working (on strike), that all events will go well (i.e. protests could be going on during the events in Horseguards), and no doubt numerous terrorist scares, ... it was an extremely proud and enjoyable ocassion for the nation... getting the opportunity to host the Olympics again; but I think we will end up as a laughing-stock... I didn't think China wasn't beatable... they did a great job, but people will be comparing the two... and I don't think ours will be anything as close as the standard China set although I felt we had the potential. We couldn't even get the brand right (the logo) ... this said many of the developments are good but you know most places will either be sold off privately or go to ruin after the Olympics.

So, has anyone had their money taken out of their bank accounts yet?
