Overpayment & Robinson Way - advice or experience?

Options
Hi all,

Firstly, I have lurked for many years so thanks to all you wonderful, inspirational and supportive people.

I just called the last of my dreaded cards after having been out of the country for a while and just making payments as usual. Turns out the account was sold to robinson way back in '08. Since then I have paid back the balance and then some. Capital One could see the balance as in credit on their systems but couldn't tell me any more.

I called Robinson Way - guy was a little strange and just said he would have to get someone to call me back as he initially couldn't find me then when he did said he didn't want to commit to anything over the phone?

He said they will get back to me but does anyone have any experience of anything (daft) like this? who ever heard of a collection agency owing us money!

Cheers

    Hi Jojo,

I've never dealt with this debt collector. However, the best advice I would give you is only to ever contact debt collection agencies in writing, as they will try to bully and harass you into paying more than you can probably afford.

    Good luck

If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

You should write to Robinson Way, requesting full details of ALL payments made to them, by you, for this account. Enclose as much detail as you can, including any reference numbers, account numbers and so on. Ask for a full, up-to-date balance and give them 14 days to comply. Keep a copy of your letter and send it by recorded (signed-for) delivery.

If they do owe you money and they don't cough up, make sure that you send lots of threat-o-grams and don't forget to harass them daily by telephone! :rotfl::rotfl:
