Like any craft you need insurance, somewhere to sell them, customers willing to part with money.
Also I would have thought that you will also need food hygiene certificates, a place to cook/bake them (which will need to be checked etc).0 -
Have you costed it all out and do you have a business plan and regular customers lined up.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Have you had a look at the cash for baking thread on here? It's very informative

If you could make £1 on every cupcake sold, that is sale price less all your costs and overheads, but not your wages/salary then you would need to bake 10,000 pa, or approx 200 a week and then actually sell them. If you can only achieve 50p per cupcake then you're looking at 400 a week.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Don't forget to factor in all the tax and NI as well.
The only person I ever saw make any money at all from home baking was someone who specialised in gluten free goodies, and had a completely gluten free kitchen...mmmm. She sells via mail order.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Have you considered joing Country Markets, it is a low risk way of selling baking goods with little overheads.
You probably won't achieve the amount you are looking for but it seems a good way to start.
I am just starting to go down this route but will be selling a range of baked products.
They can help out with training, provide insurance etc.0
