OR (actually and Independent Practitioner) has just asked me to send a payment via cheque! Doesn't even know that we are not allowed a cheque book! This from someone who says they are an "expert"

Incredible! You should have told them if they are prepared to wait 6 years until you can get a cheque book, then you would send them one.

I know! they did the same to me when I paid them most of my bonus, when I said I obviously couldn't send a cheque they asked me to send it in a postal order, to send the amount they wanted in a postal order it would have cost £200!! in the end I had to transfer it to my parents account and they wrote a cheque for me.0

oh god they are wanting a fortune off me next month
again same with the postal order but bet they wont take a reduced payment, why cant they just take debit card payments! it would be cheaper to drive to there office with the cash than a postal order for me! Total Weight Loss - 28lb and countingAD 17/11/20100 -
ha ha yeah could drive the money there, apart from the fact you can probly only get out £250 cash a day with our basic account's and then you would miss the dealline to get the money to them!! he he he. Why you can't do a bank transfer with a reference number I do not know, so silly.0

Can I just ask- is this extra payment on top of your IPA because you have surplus income to pay them?
How do they normally take your normal payment? Seems ridiculous that they can't take it in the same way?
Curly- why are they asking for a fortune from you next month? Again- is this due to surplus income?
Sorry for the questions- but I've just had my OR interview and they are holding fire on our IPA as not sure if we will be dealt with by the IP as we have quite a bit of equity in our home.
Once it's set up- I wonder how it will work with surplus income, as I am self employed and it could vary from month to month.
Sounds like a pain for getting extra money to them (unless I've misunderstood from your posts above!!)0 -
Hi Kes
Mine is because i've lost my job and therefore unemployed. They have offered that if I pay my IPA off in full with my redundancy money and it will then close my file.Total Weight Loss - 28lb and countingAD 17/11/20100 -

BTW they are not making me pay this off they have said i can pay it off to close the file, just so you know its my choiceTotal Weight Loss - 28lb and countingAD 17/11/20100 -
I know it seems bonkers at first glance but, a couple of points, Its not actually illegal to have a cheque book (although i doubt if you would find anyone who would give you one), they of course do accept cheques from family members and many people choose to pay this way, and they do have an account to transfer money into if you ask, at least they used toHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
