Am I right in thinking that I must have cleaned up my file sufficiently now?BR 09/09 ED 07/10
I am going to send off for new paper copies of credit file since I have been accepted for this, but just wondered if the files are probably clean enough now for me to start building up my score again?
Thanks guys in advance

I was br 10/09 discharge 06/10 but am not in a hurry to clean up my credit file while I know in this day and age we often need a credit card ie for emergencies or even just verification of identity.
I just don't want any credit at all, anyone else here think on the same lines or am I alone???
I just know we cannot afford to on our income which isn't likely to improve for some time yet!!!!0 -
I am in complete agreement with you-this is purely for cleaning up and improving my credit score definitely NOT as a spend spend spend credit card-this is the first CC I have ever had, and it is a means to an end, I would have happily put a balance on the CC as long as they record with CRAs, but there arent any secured credit cards, only pre pay-which I think charge a fee?0

I have just applied to Capital One for their high interest CC. I started to clean up my files on the 11/3/11. I am still waiting for confirmation on whether I have been accepted. The card is only for emergencies or where a debit card is not taken, also it will be used to build up my credit rating as I go along.:pB&SC No. 298

let us know how you get on dojoman, I am wondering if my file is pretty much as clean as it can be now? Also wondering if paying British Gas monthly on DD has paid dividends as I know they record with experian???0

Be worth an ask kerry....you PAYG now?We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Pay as you go? Sorry phil, having a very blonde day-on what?
Seems bizarre I am more credit worthy now than I was pre BR!0 -
If your Gas/Elec is pre paid then they will probably ask for a charge to remove meters to go back to direct debit
Hmm i'm the same since BR! full natwest account couple of credit options along with a £2000 gold vanquis CC (hmm yeah like i'll use all that!!)We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Thanks Phil, had a completely absent brain moment then!
No, we used to pay quarterly immediately after BR, then we switched to monthly DD, we had meters at old house pre BR though.
Its very strange isnt it, just excited to be taking step one of the clean up! Do you think my file will be OK now, or will I need to further investigate?(with me being accepted for card I was kind of hoping the file is in order now?)0 -
well...usually I do say start the cleanup then after a few months send for your paper files again & see whats changed (you still may have to chase the odd creditor..)
Vanquis have been known in the past to be pretty picky with applications...they initially refused me the first time..then after a while I tried again & sucess..so credit file? not sure really who knows what they're scoring procedure is.We all die. Thanks Phil-I think I will send for the paper files again, I ***think*** what has happened is the Northern Shock debt has been adjusted to settled, after a very long and protracted fight with them over it. I know at least one debt (virgin media) is going to be a pain in the butt to sort as they very kindly sold it on to at least one particularly vile debt collection agency, and they claim to not have the BR paperwork despite both the OR and me sending it to them
Anyway, always worth a looky, something must have changed as Vanquis turned me down in Nov10 but have accepted now???
Cheers for the advice
