Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (or something like that) lasts for ages but pretty expensive, if you want a 'physical' exfoliant.
I'm now using Paulas Choice BHA 2% lotion which is fantastic and a 'chemical' exfoliant. I'm using a Paulas Choice cleanser as well which I love.

My Apologies for hijacking but may I ask where you buy your Paulas Choice products from?:)
Thank you for this site Martin

No probs. I buy them online from http://www.paulaschoice.co.uk because as far as I know they're not available in stores in the UK.

When I bought some in the US when my DD lived there they seemed really good value, sadly I seem to have developed another expensive habit ;)

I use Clinique 7 Day scrub cream as it's the only one I have found that doesn't upset my skin, but really works. It's not cheap, but you only need a little bit and I only use it once or twice a week.

I'm in my mid fifties and until a couple of years ago was happily going along with muslins, flannels and scrubs. Then what seemed to happen was this all became too much. I've now got thread veins and so on and I'm really cautious about using any product or system thats too aggressive.
  • I use Olay's Regenerist Thermal scrub. I find it a little gentler than St Ive's and a few others I've tried. I have sensitive combination skin which breaks out in spots easily, if that helps. Used to be able to use the Boots skincare vouchers on it but I think it's now excluded, as it's a cleanser? :(

If you're a bit skint, just bung half a teaspoon of sugar in with your usual facewash and gently rub your face.

Edit: Not icing sugar though. That would be ridiculous.

    Hi,

I use Boots Essentials. @£3.99 for at least a month's-worth (on @ twice-per-month average usage). Failing that, mix clear honey with rock-salt granules - works a treat. Don't scrub TOO hard though - that can do more harm than good.

ALWAYS follow-up with a cleanser (Johnsons Everyday... on special offer at the time)... failing that, plenty of rinsing face in clean water after exfoliating and a moisturiser that you trust.

At the end of the day, water is best for cleansing and a gentle (cheap or otherwise - Johnson's Baby Lotion is certainly good enough) moisturiser is all that you need.

I'm 36 and am often complimented on my skin. Seriously - all you need is water - gentle cleanser in times of crisis (!) - and a strength of moisturiser appropriate for where you live. I'm in Hampshire, where the water is VERY hard, so I need a lot of moisturiser after cleansing - but when I'm with my mum's family in mid-Devon, where the water is very soft, a gentle application of moisturiser is enough.

    Good luck to you. xx

Could you tell us a bit more about the Clarisonic - how you use it, how often and is it just face or body too.
Would you use it now in preferece to Lush.s Ocean Salt?
thanks - awaiting your reply with interest!

Hey, yeah, erm, I use it with my daily cleanser - Philosophy Purity (got the big bottle in November, still going strong). I only use my Clarisonic 2-3 times a week otherwise my skin gets too dry. I got the Clarisonic Plus so this one is for both body and face and you get two separate heads.

So you just place the purity on your face, then using the clarisonic go around in little circles (it beeps at you to tell you when to move from chin/cheek/forehead etc)

I use it instead of Ocean Salt now. If I want to treat myself I might buy a tub (I think it's like £5?) but not really on a regular basis anymore.

And I use it on my body 1X a week (I'm lazy) but it works just as well as a scrub (my fav was Sanctuary body scrub) so I think I'm saving money somehow haha :)
