    I bought the HDMI version today and its region free out the box :D

    Sorry....I am not too technical.....my simple question is, is it possible to connect an external hard drive and watch movies which are stored in .avi format etc

    I dont know what is XVid compatible / HDMI [what is it anyway]


    Not sure, would probably play if burned to DVD..... :confused:

    xvid means that it would play most stuff in avi format that's been downloaded from the internet :)
