I really need answers

OK a good day has just turned into the worst day ever.
My post was put through someone elses door and they have just put it through mine (been away since last Tuesday) and it's from a debt collection agency. Me and dd's dad took a loan out 4 year ago when we had an extension done and to be honest because he paid it and he said it WAS HIS HOUSE and never would be anything to do with me I forgot about it. I haven't seen him for 2 years and until last year I now find out he has been paying it. There is a balance of £27000 including court costs in both our names. God I feel sick am I liable for all or just half of this?? I really don't know what to do I can't ring them until tomorrow and see what is what, I have rang her dad and he said tough and his new wife told me where to go and mobile went off. Any advice would be great how much of this do I have to pay?

He's just rang back and told me he is gone bankrupt so all the debt would be mine now is this true OMG now I feel really sick?

I'm afraid you would what jointly and singly liable. The loan company do not care where the money comes from so long as it does and if you pay half each that's an arrangement between you (I know that's not happening here just trying to explain the attitude from the lender).
£27k is a huge amount and to be honest you might have to consider a similar route to your dead beat ex because you'll be paying that until the end of time.
