If you can't sell your books, then try readitswapit.co.uk For the price of postage you can have a whole new pile of books to read!

I was just about to post a similar query, so i hope you don't mind me joining the thread.

I have 3/4 boxes of books, mostly textbooks, in my garage and trying to clear it out for summer holiday spending money. I'm sure Amazon would get me the most money but am really stretched for time tbh. We have a rule of thumb that we don't bother ebaying etc. unless we're going to get £10 as it takes time to list/monitor/pack/post.

I'd be really grateful for any bulk selling suggestions?
Will second hand book retailers buy a boxful do you think?
Has anyone tried back2cash website for selling books? (like music magpie) I've seen it but can't find any reviews.

Thanks and sorry again for jumping on the thread!

Textbooks can be very hard to sell, especially if they are out of date. If they are current and are still being used by people on vocational courses or at uni/college, you could see if you could advertise them on the noticeboards.

From experience secondhand booksellers generally aren't too keen on textbooks, but you could always ring any local ones and see if they are interested.

I use readitswapit as well. Great service.
  • I use Amazon for selling books. I check what the current lowest price is and see if it's worth my while. I've arrived that the conclusion that a soft back craft book, something like a fat magazine size, selling at 11.00 is ok, anything less and I don't bother listing it.

Not sure if this will be of any help to you but ...

... I gave up selling books ages ago as people weren't buying them (a lot of them are old handed down from parents / grandparents) so I decided to trade them. As you are a fan of reading, this might be a good alternative for you as it will save you buying new books.

I used two different websites, but Bookmooch is the only one springing to mind atm.

Agreed, amazon is the best route to take.

Amzon is the best route, if not setup a stool on a local carboot, you just need to ensure you sell enough to cover your pitch, round my way its about £5 a pitch.

Minimum £8 a pitch here and I rarely get more than 10-20p a book, assuming they sell at all

As I've previously posted, have had little success selling books at car boot sales and apart from dedicated regular stallholder who has a lot of older, collectable books, the only stallholder who was successful and cleared his stock (over a few weeks) was one where every book was 10p! At that price he had to sell 80 books each week just to pay the pitch fee.

As others have said, you could try sell them locally at a car boot.

You could try and sell them on ebay but it would be best to sell them all as an item to maximise profits
