There will definitely be no customs charges to pay on a product for £3 - they only charge on items £18 and over IF they will charge at all - but I think there is something with Jersey so that there is no charge if the retailer adheres to certain guidelines - but I can't swear to that.0

Only just seen this post. Great spot on a great film. Just ordered it last time i saw the limited edition it was around £12.0

I agree with Trow.
Had many, many products from sites based abroad including Jersey/Hong Kong/America. All products over 18 pounds are officially subject to customs charges but in my experience this only happens when they are having a splurge!

I received a gift from a very well known and respected company in the US but because they hadn't worked the customs charges out correctly (even though they had written "gift" on the package and made a customs payment of some kind) the postman wouldn't deliver it until I'd made the remaining customs charge of £7!!
I ended up leaving it because I couldn't afford to pay, even though the gift was worth £35.
The said company have now resolved the customs problems and I recently received another gift from them.
I have to say as well, that some other people in the UK received the gift without having to pay extra customs duty, so it slipped through the net there. I don't think I'll order from Woolies of Jersey though, when they can't guarantee that there won't be extra customs to pay.
Very bad luck littlewren! I have ordered hendreds of stuff from play.com (Jersey) and and Britannia (also Jersey) and have never ever had a problem. Maybe the customs are OK with European orders (i.e Jersey) and harsher with US? Don't be put off and grab a bargain while you can! xIf we all lived to the rule 'an eye for an eye', the world would be blind...0 -
OK, will give it a go then, thanks.

Woolies are only covering their backs here, most traders will give you the same terms and conditions. All they are saying is that if the VAT Man changes his mind or the rules andwants to charge you , and he has the right to do what he wants, then they are not responsible for paying the extra.
