It is the original. You can also find it on the Gutenberg project, but not quite as fancy.
There are newer versions that have been updated with microwave instructions etc.0 -
does anyone have a version of this from the
1960`s ? It has a really good recipe for
fairy cakes and I have lost it,if anyone

Hello, don't know if the one you're referring to is the original, but I know that Marks and Spencer do a range of books which appear to be taken from Mrs Beeton's original (which I believe was extremely large). They're on desserts, household hints, cooking, entertaining etc. They're £5 each but there's a 3 for 2 Christmas offer at the minute as well.
Hope that helps solve present dilemma :rotfl:

loumac wrote:Well I have just used this fabulous book to make my first ever soup! French vegetable and wow it was so easy. I spent about £6 on ingredients and it should last me all week.
I have never ever cooked anything from scratch and I am suddenly inspired!
Loomac, that veg soup sounds nice, could you pass it on?
Many thanks.:)Amazon No:170 -

Well, I have just read some of this and I am quite decided.
I would make a pathetic servant.
Although... I haven't yet seen what the Mistress gets up to... Could be worse - you have to LOOK busy and useful! Surely that's worse.:wall:0 -
I bought a copy of the 1912 edition recently. It's wonderful, but wasn't cheap - around £90 I think if I remember correctly. But it was great just to be able to see what was current in cooking in the year my mum was born. And because I'm into old books, especially from this period.
And it is a big book - around 12 cm wide . . . .
P.S. There's an original edition on abebooks going for £3500 if you're interested.Where now?0 -
