Mortgages in the UK from South Africa

Hi I have a few questions, and I'm hoping someone has the answers. My father lives in South Africa and would like to invest in a property in London. He would like to rent it out. I have no idea on how to go about this, as I have tried to google and have come up with nothing. Would he have to go about it in SA or here? He is a British Citizen but has not lived here for some time, will this make a difference? Would he maybe have to go through a property broker? Any help would be grately appreciated. Thank you

What's the longer term plan? As there are various issues such as property management , taxation and even selecting a suitable area\property to be considered. Which in total will involve a cost.

There are a handful of lenders that could potentially help.

However it would depend on the overall scenario i.e. price, deposit, earnings, employment status etc.

This will only be possible with a large deposit. Many moons ago I could get these agreed on standard minimum deposits etc., however those days are long behind us now, so a bit trickier to get agreed.

Get in contact with a good whole of market adviser who has dealt with overseas clients previously.
