Sorry, no weblinks as I'm on my iPod and it's a bit fiddly, but Google them: the Uffculme centre near Moseley (a nice big Victorian building) and Hatton village Hall, which is out towards Warwick. Nice building for a village hall, costs £800 to hire (including ceremony) and you can bring in your own caterers.

FYI we are getting married in Highbury Hall, which we thought was out of our price range initially but we took advantage of their winter special package which is £1800 for 40 people. Only includes two courses and reception drink though, so by the time you factor in table wine, third course, tea/coffee with the meal, VAT etc it's more like £3000-£3500. Lovely, lovely place though, could be worth a look if you're planning to get married in Jan-March of next year!

My reception is at highbury hall. We have 100 people, 3 course meal (wedding cake for pudding!), and evening buffet (we've cut out a drinks package!) all this is coming to £3500 - we're not having our ceremony here though! so we were able to get a reduction as we are haivng a winter wedding and I begged our wedding consultant :) we got half price room hire. x

Might be a bit late now but I came across a competition whilst helping my friend research Birmingham venues. Basically just have to give your details through the Birmingham Botanical Gardens Facebook page and you're entered into prize draw to win a £5000 reception and the winner is announced in December- hope it helps!

We made a decision to have a Friday wedding in november, to have the wedding we wanted, with the price we can afford, we had to make a compromise - a small summer wedding or a large winter wedding

If you want a summer wedding, you have to pay a premium because it is a popular time of year to be married, and people can sell their services and venues at full price without any hassle.

for us, it was more important to have all our friends and family around us, so we chose a fantastic winter package deal.

    xx

  • Hello, thanks all for the responses so far. We are now in a position to book, but still have a massive family (fortunately I suppose :p) and want a summer wedding. Does anyone else have any more tips? Basically I can't find anything I love for less than £62 per head. :\ maybe I just want too much

Gutted I missed your post jlas! Would have entered that...

  • Hi,

We've just booked our wedding at The Barns Hotel in Cannock (around 20 miles away from Brum). It's cost us £4,000 in total for the ceremony, 3 course meal for 50, hog roast & desserts in the evening for 100, dj, drink on arrival, 2 drinks with meal, champagne toast, bridal suite, and toastmaster. The latest ceremony they do is at 4pm I think so might be worth looking into if you could just have either the WB or evening buffet? That wouldn't work out too expensive then :)

  • Hi everyone,

I have been reading all the very helpful pointers everyone has been postingand hope you can do the same for me.

I am looking to get married 15th April 2013, and although would love a venuesimilar to the Ramada Sutton Coldfield i find them slightly out of my budget.

I am looking for a Civil Ceremony and 3 course Wedding Breakfast for 50people and an evening buffet/disco for around 100 food ideally to include aCaribbean theme as newly formed bridges to father and that side of the familymeans guests from the Caribbean.

I know i shouldn't be thinking about everyone else, but for them most havenever been to Europe let alone England and we both only plan on doing this onceso any help and advice would be very very much appreciated
