My Alliance & Leicester bank account!

I need to check with alliance and leicester if they will shut my bank account as I have just been made bankrupt but wondered if anyone knows what they will do. Its a basic bank account with no debt on it, no overdraft etc I have my wages paid in and my bills come out thats it and I have no spare money (hence going bankrupt) the OR said its down to the bank to decide just wondered what you all thought, the lady at the court it should be fine but of course can't contact them today or tomorrow and my wages go in thurs, don't want to be left with no money!

Open a basic bank account with Barclays or Co-op - these are the only 2 BR friendly banks.

If allience & leciester do close the account, speak to your examiner and they will be able to assist in getting the funds to you.

IF you don't have a Barclays or Co-op branch near you then I would go with the Co-op. You can open the account by phone (just tell them you are BR) and use the post office for paying in and your debit card at the cash machine.

As JCS has said the only really BR friendly accounts are the Coop Cashminder and Barclays Basic, you can open the Coop account over the phone, but you would have to go in to a branch to open a Barclays account. Also you do not get online banking with Barclays whilst you are still BR but you do with the Coop.

Here is the link to the Cashminder:)
