A very big thank you to the site which has helped me.

To explain, I have had financial difficulties in the past directly as a result of divorce and my ex husband declaring himself bankrupt. Regardless, I obtained my credit report and with the help of CAB, slowly worked through each of the debts clearing them, or so I thought!

I recently received a letter from Buchanan Clark & Wells acting on behalf of Aktiv Kapital First Investment Ltd. Natually as the all debts had been cleared with my credit report reflecting the same I was a little confused by the threat of Court Action. Thanks to my niece, here your site helped, with a little investigation I found the debt related to Byte Computer Stores. It was confirmed by themselves that the last payment made was in 1998 and with the help of the "The Limitation Act 1980 Section 5" I wrote asking for the claim to be dropped. Today I have received a letter saying they have advised their client and closed the file.

Thank you, having suffered the stress of learning the hard and painful way, its a relief to know this is one less thing to worry about.

Next stop thanks to this site, is a claim for Bank Charges. Post dated cheques, be warned, do not serve to show sincere willingness on your part, instead Companies will act first and charge later!
