Hi, we are flying from stanstead to Riga on in July at 06:05( my OH booked it and didn't check what time, we could of had a later flight!) We are travelling down from the east midlands. I wondered if anyone knew if firstly, if it is cheaper to travel down by bus or train, or go in the car and park there, and secondly if we park is there any way of making it cheaper? We are going on the friday and coming back on the Tueday.

Just got to add incase anyone can help with this, the flight going is about 4hrs 40 mins and the flight back is about 40 mins! I read it was only about 2 hrs, so does anyone have any idea why?0

Try holiday extras park and hotel there is a code for 10% off in emails sos sign up for those(plenty of time to get the code)
not much more than parking when we did it.
They have 2 secret hotels, holiday inn express and another one which is better(pool) both are a few min by bus from the terminal building.
eg £72 for 14july0 -
Latvia is in a different time zone (GMT + 3 hours) and the times shown on your itinerary are local times.Just got to add incase anyone can help with this, the flight going is about 4hrs 40 mins and the flight back is about 40 mins! I read it was only about 2 hrs, so does anyone have any idea why?
<edit> To clarify, If the time that you fly from Stansted in the summer is 06:05, it's already 08:05 local time in Riga (GMT+3/BST+2), so if your flight takes 2 hours 40 minutes, you'll arrive in Riga at 10:45.
Conversely, if you leave Riga at 06:05, it's only 04:05 in the UK and your 2 hour 40 minute flight will land at Stansted at 06:45.0 -
Thankyou very much for your replies
They were both very helpful:beer: 0 -
Stansted is quite expensive for parking, but also extremely inconvenient airport to get to by public trasport in early morning or late evening

Circle Meet and Greet is now £31.50 for 5 days in July (10% off code is PRV1 on parkandgo.co.uk website) - which is good price, I believe- but they meet you at Red short stay car park: it is walking distance from the terminal, indeed, but rather 5min walking, not next to the entrance.0 -
Used PURPLE PARKING at STANSTEAD for first time yesterday
NEVER AGAIN!!
Have used purple parking many times at Heathrow and Gatwick all good but the STANSTEAD was the WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!
Our flight arrived at 2.30 am. After we had booked and paid, at arrival at Stanstead site, we were told that they didn't open until 4 a.m.! So why did they accept a booking for 3 am? Ok, no drama, we can wait.
We phoned up at 4 am advising that we there to be picked up.
We were told that they would be there in 5 minutes.
Pick up arrived at 4.30!
It was freezing! We complained and asked why we had not been phoned to say they would be late as we could have waited indoors in the warmth (it is 5 minutes away). They said that "they did not have any contact details for us", which is a blatant lie as one needs to supply a mobile number at the time of booking and that we used the mobile to phone them at 4.00 a.m. for pick up!
We where then subjected to a lecture of "how people like us were all the same and expected everything to be done for them"!
I answered saying that "we were only following instructions that you gave us regarding time for pick up".
The driver and his college then in no uncertain terms told us to "shut up or they would throw us off the mini bus" and we would have to find our own way to the car- so make a choice!!!
So if you would like NOT to be abused, intimidated, sworn at, DO NOT USE PURPLE PARKING AT STANSTEAD (CSL PARKING)0 -
Don't arrive shortly after midnight. I listened to all the BBC radio 4 midnight news in the services 5 mins away and then drove to the parking. The timer on the ticket machine still said 11.58pm. They charge per day or part thereof!!!!0
