Help-Credit Report

Hi,
I recently paid off all my debts and obtained my credit report. On a old credit card the amount is showing as still outstanding i have paid this off. I tried phoning HSBC direct and they told me they couldn't help unless i had the card number and account password. I haven't had the card for over 4 years as it was cut up.
Do you think i should go into my local branch with a copy of my credit report and explain the situation.
Also my credit rating is poor is there any way i can make this look better as i paid off all my debt a few months ago.

Did you get a letter from them stating that the account was closed and do you have a copy of it? If so send a copy of that into them or send it to the credit reference agency.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I received a letter from the collections agency saying that once the payment has been cleared by HSBC then they will confirm. I had two accounts one was for a loan which is showing as settled but the card account outstanding.It was paid the same time as the loan account.0
