Claiming Maternity Allowance

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone could help. I will be going on maternity leave next year and I am currently self-employed and employed. I only earn £45 in my employment so will have to claim maternity allowance. I have been reading that if you are self employed and paying NI class 2 contributions then you will get the standard rate of maternity allowance (which I currently pay and will have paid for the 26 weeks that is required) but does this apply to me as I am employed aswell?
I have rung countless 'helplines' and nobody seems to know, and they just tell me to apply and wait and see, which isn't much good for planning ahead really.
If anyone has any help on this it would be much appreciated, thanks.

You'll need to get a form from your employer saying why they can't pay SMP. In this case, it'll be because you don't earn enough.
Send that in with your Maternity Certicficate (from midwife after 20 weeks), and your application form. You should get the standard rate of MA based on your Class 2 contributions. Here I go again on my own....0
