Castle Galleries - Is haggling acceptable??

Hi

Have seen a couple of prints by a new artist in my local Castle Galleries and just wondered whether anyone knows if it's acceptable to haggle on price. They're over £200 per framed print and I want 2.

Some people say it's acceptable to haggle over everything and if you don't ask you don't get.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, D :)

Ask if they give a discount if you buy more than one?
    Val.
  • If they are by someone local it might be better to try to negotiate with them directly. Overall though I dont see why anyone shouldnt offer a lower price wherever they are, you might get rebuffed but many places are struggling to make any money so could be willing to compromise to get the sale.
  • For anyone that's interested...
We went into the shop, looked at the 2 prints we liked for a minute. Sales guy came over and chatted for a minute or two. We said we liked them both and he immediately said he could probably do us a deal. Within 20 seconds he came over and said they should be £470 but he can round it down to £400. I could've tried to haggle but was happy at that so took them. Was in the shop about 5 minutes all in all.

Ask if they'll do you a BOGOF.

I always haggle ! Honed my skills in nearly every country in the Med and North Africa plus mainland Europe . Most countries they just smile at gullible Brits when they do not haggle. In Europe it is a way of life and part of the fun of shopping .
