dont know if i'm on the right board but here goes.
saw a car on the internet today, phoned the showroom and enquired about finance for the car, gave me some costs and asked if i would like to put an £100.00 deposit down for the car until the finance is sorted for it, paid the deposit with my switch card but then later on i realised i did'nt want the car.
i want to phone up tomorrow to request my deposit back but if there funny about it which i think they maybe, what legal rights do i have seeing i've never signed anything and did not agree to anything in principle just securing the car until i went to the showroom?

phone your bank and get the charge back,
just a tip but you might want to test drive a car before you buy it.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Sorry to say it, but unless the dealer is feeling exceptionally kind, I reckon you've lost your deposit. After all, what is the point of a deposit unless to hold you to an agreement to purchase the car (not just to view it)? The fact that you gave the card details is enough proof of an agreement.0

The website should have small print on it stating that you have a cooling off period.
If it doesn't use the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 http://www.oft.gov.uk/Business/Legal/DSR/default.htm to get the money back.
As they are salesmen make sure you quote the full name of the act and stick to your guns. Make it clear the deposit was for the car not for the finance then you should be covered under the regulations. 99% of sales people don't know about legal acts and try and bluff you out of your rights.
Make sure you back anything they agree up in writing- so get names, dates and send it to them by a signed for method in the post. Some companies agree to refunds etc then don't pay up.
If they refuse you need to make it such a hassle for them they will give you your money back so for starters put everything in writing , make sure you send the letter by a signed for method to the head office and state you will take court action against them to get your money back within 30 days.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0
