I was with E&L until yesterday!
Have you ever tried to get through to them on the phone?? The phone just rings and rings or you get an answer machine.

I emailed them a question about the insurance (coz i couldnt get through on the phone!) and instead of answering my question, they posted me a claim form??!! :( .......AND charged me an extra £2 on this months premium for the pleasure!!

I now have Molly insured with Tesco insurance at £5.83 a month..... just as cheap as E&L and going by past experience of Tesco insurance, probably more reliable! :)

    Avoid E & L like the plague!!!!!

... or any of their associate companies. They are a nightmare to claim from and will try anything to get out of paying up

It's a few years since I've had to recommend pet insurance so not up to date on new products, but PetPlan were always a very good company to deal with and also NFU if they're doing pets as well now. I had equine insurance with them and I know they were branching out into other areas so well worth checking them out (and no, you don't need to be a farmer to use them ;))

Can't think off the top of my head (it's late and i've had a couple glasses of wine - hic!) but I'll get back to you on this.

Just realised you didn't specify what species of pet, as this can sometimes make a difference in who to go with :)

Edit: Just done a quick google for links and here is PetPlan and this is the NFU one, and yes, they do pet insurance now.

Remember that cheapest is not always best if they won't pay up for an expensive operation or ongoing treatment if your pet becomes ill or has an accident. PetPlan have a great reputation and vets like dealing with them as they pay up promptly. I can't tell you anything about NFU's pet policies as I've never used them but they were fantastic when they insured my horses, and one bill ran into several thousand pounds which they payed out no problem.

My best advice to you would be to speak to your vet and ask who they recommend as they deal with claims on a daily basis and will know who the best insurance companies are :)
