Debt Collectors tracing MY house number to try and locate previous tenant?

Hi all, not sure if correct area but thought this is the Debt-Free one and its regarding a debt collection agency.
I live in a private rent, but we have had letters addressed to a previous tenant regarding unpaid debits. Now these have gone as far as a debt collecter (Wescott iirc) who have been told by myself that mrs unpaid debts no longer here I have been here over 2 years, private let etc.
Now a week or so ago this company contact ourselves via my house phone....looking for Mrs Unpaid Debts, my telephone is on the Telephone Preference Service and I did give permission for the number to be in the public phone book.
Can they do this? The number is listed under MY name, the line was newly installed abut 6 months AFTER i moved in. It was my fiancee who answered the call and the person on the other end started acting to my fiancee that SHE was mrs unpaid debts.
I guess im a little miffed that they have somehow traced my number via the address and then contacted the house.
Are they right in doing this? Or can i complain somewhere?
*on another note i did actually clear my last debt a few days ago!! :beer:*
