Cleaning for friends

My son starts school this year so I am currently looking for ideas for jobs that I can do that would fit around his schedule.
A few of my friends are returning to work after the summer hols and are looking for someone to clean for them. I have offered my services and am seeing the first mum to discuss details tomorrow.
I am a total novice regarding this, so I am looking for suggestions ie do I take cleaning supplies with me or does the client supply them.
Also will be looking to get insurance in place if this idea pans out.

Oh that sounds good ! , Its good you have first of all found clients straightaway to get your little business going.
It all depends on if you are treating this like I say as a 'business' or just a helping hand in their home. If it is the latter then all you would have to do is turn up and have a friendly chat and Im sure they will have cleaning supplied if you are thinking of turning this into your owb business then I would suggest maybe buying some cleaning supplies and a basket etc to carry them in.
But first of all I would ask your friends before buying any of them , just ask what they expect of you and see what they think maybe ?
Hope this helps and hoping you do well !!!:A What's for you, Won't go by you :A0 -
Cheers John9to5 for replying.
Had a chat with my friend this morning. She is willing to supply the cleaning materials etc, overall it went very well. As she is a teacher she wont need me over the holidays which is fine with me as it means not having to find childcare.
Just waiting to hear from a few more friends and if it all kicks off as planned might start doing some local advertising as after some research have discovered the town (pop of 16000) where I live has only 2 small cleaning companies (both being done by 1 person) and only a small handful of others offering the same.MFW - currently at £23,610 (Aug 2014) MFD 20200 -
my mum used to do this type of work, she had one client in a very posh neighbourhood, this client told her neighbours who then took my mum on too. by the end she had about 6 homes she was cleaning weekly. its a great little buisness you have there good luck with it!

I clean for a couple of friends and I use their cleaning products, just leaving them a note when something's running out.
I think whilst it's through friends that's fine, if you get as far as turning it into a business you may have to look at supplying your own.
Hope it works out for you!

I would ask the person that you are working for whether they'd prefer you to bring your own supplies or not. Some people are allergic to certain products / do not like using chemical cleaners etc, so they may prefer you to use their products. Whereas other people may think it is unprofessional for a cleaner to turn up with no cleaning agents.0
