Spoke to them and they said it is made from rubber. I asked if that meant that is was PVC and the answer was that the product sheet says rubber. So am still not certain if that means that the rubber contains PVC ... It could be that rubber & PVC are conpletely two different materials.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

It could be that rubber & PVC are completely two different materials.
They are.
PVC is poly vinyl chloride which is a manufactured plastic. Rubber aka latex is derived from a naturally occuring plant material. Of course people often use the word 'rubber' to refer to all kinds of synthetic materials, and so the only way of knowing what someone means by 'rubber' is to ask.0 -
Even if it made from PVC which is doubt what exactly are your children doing to the mat outside to absorb any PVC. Yeah i wouldn't allow it for use in drink and food containers but the point where your restricting pvc for something that open in the air is just plain unrational paranoia0

They sell something similar (but a bit cheaper) in B&Q: http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9279205&fh_view_size=10&fh_location=%2f%2fcatal!!!1%2fen_GB&fh_search=rubber+mat&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_refview=search&isSearch=true0
